#WinTogether CREW Spotlight – Jeff Snyder

by

For our third installment of our #WinTogether CREW Spotlight, we spoke with our Night Shift Supervisor, Jeff Snyder, who works at our Paxinos Plant. He spoke about his responsibilities at the plant, why he enjoys working for Novipax, and his recent career shift from working in utilities to now being in manufacturing. We hope you enjoy getting to learn more about Jeff as much as we did!

Where are you from?

“I am from Northeast Pennsylvania.”

When and how did you join Novipax?

“I joined Novipax two months ago when I was looking for a career change from utilities to manufacturing.”

What do your day-to-day responsibilities consist of?

“I oversee the second shift and part of the day-shift. I need to encourage and motivate the crew to get their daily tasks completed. I would say I am probably the best at motivating the crew to be enthusiastic about their work and getting them to understand how important it is. I motivate them by being a good communicator and explaining the reasons behind the processes at Novipax. If you do what’s right for the employees and for the company, everyone wins.”

What is something unique that you have experienced at Novipax?

“They have a different leadership team than what I have previously experienced. Novipax is more engaging and up-beat. They communicate much more effectively and in a way that keeps your attention and interest. Previously, safety meetings would be boring and mundane, but at Novipax, they make them more interesting and you look forward to participating in them.”

What is your favorite thing about working for Novipax?

“My favorite thing about working here would be the way that the company is managed. They listen to the feedback that you provide which makes you feel heard and understood. I appreciate them supporting me in my switch from utilities to manufacturing since they are two very different fields.”

What do you like about working the night-shift? Do you find any challenges related to it?

“What I like about the night-shift is the group of people that I work with. There is a big sense of teamwork and community since we are a small knit group. I really like how I have been able to get this group to come together and work as one towards one common goal. I enjoy working the night-shift since I am available during the day when most people are working. I can also be home when my kids come home from school, which is something I could not do with a different schedule. It was a change for me considering I worked days for over twenty years, but I have really been enjoying it so far.”

If you had to describe Novipax in one word, what would it be?

“Unique.”

What is your favorite activity in the Paxinos area?

“My favorite activity would be riding my motorcycle. I am pretty well known for it and when it’s a nice day I will ride it to work.”

What is your favorite restaurant in the Paxinos area?

“It would probably be La Tolteca, that’s our go-to place.”

Who would you say has been the most influential person in your life thus far?

“In my career, I would say it was my manager when I was nineteen years old. He saw a lot of potential in me and taught me about understanding business and how to bring people together. In my personal life, I would say my father. He also was a hard worker who taught me the work ethic I have today.”

What is your favorite hobby?

“Something I spend a lot of time doing would be gardening. It’s not necessarily my favorite, but we do have vegetable and flower gardens around the house that I spend a lot of time working on.”

Do you have any hidden talents?

“I wouldn’t say it’s hidden but I am a good communicator. I am able to adjust to different people’s demeanors and their job titles. I have studied how to be a good communicator and how to ensure that people feel they are being understood.”

What is your favorite vacation spot?

“My favorite vacation spot would have to be Costa Rica, it’s very nice. I am a spur of the moment person and I don’t like planning vacations far in advance.”

What is your life mantra/motto?

“You only have one life so you have to live it the best that you can.”
