For our latest edition of our #WinTogether CREW Spotlight, we spoke with Glenn Lovin, Materials Manager from our Rockingham, NC facility. Glenn has been on our CREW for 24 years and has a lot to share about his experience working at Novipax over the years and his love of cooking, family and fishing.

We hope you enjoy learning more about Glenn as much as we did!

Where are you from?

“I am from the Rockingham area.”

When and how did you join Novipax?

“I applied to Novipax in 1999. I was working at a textiles plant not far from here, and I heard there was an opening. I started as a Production Supervisor on second shift. So that’s how I got here.”

What is your job title?

“I have been a Supervisor. When I first got here, we had two lines, then we expanded to six and I was involved in installation and preparation of all of that. Right now, I’m Safety Coordinator, Production Supervisor and Materials Manager.”

What do your day-to-day responsibilities consistent of?

“I’ve done a little bit of everything here. The production scheduling part – I like that. It’s kind of like a puzzle you get to put together every day. I monitor production. I check the machines, and make sure that they are running what they need to run according to our open order list. Work closely with customer service. Check on raw materials and make sure we have our raw materials for what we’re going to run.”

What is something unique that you have experienced at Novipax?

“Oh, probably, I would say during SQF audit time. We spend a lot of time together. That’s when, you know, people like Doug [McFadden], myself and Allen [Martin], we really bond because we’re problem solving and we have to hash out a lot of problems. And that’s probably some of the most unique times that I’ve had here.”

What is your favorite thing about working for Novipax?

“It’s like a family here. Once you get in here and you apply yourself, you can go as far as you want to go and you’ll get all the support here just like you would in your family. If you show that you want to do something, we will help you be successful. I don’t know of anybody around here that has any ill will towards anybody trying to do their best. We all jump in and try to help.”

What is your favorite activity in the Rockingham area?

“Fishing. I love to fish. Camping, and I do cook a lot. I’ve catered some weddings and things like that.”

What is your favorite restaurant in the area?

“I would say probably in the Southern Pines area – Beefeaters or Ironwood. They have good flavor, and I love steak.”

Who would you say has been the most influential person in your life thus far?

“I would have to say that would be my mother. With her strength that she showed me during different things, during different trials of life and things like that. She showed me how to get through with her faith. She was strong. And she taught me how to cook!”

What is your favorite hobby?

“I would say fishing – that would be my favorite.”

Do you have any hidden talents?

“Cooking! My specialty is probably barbeque. Last time the board of directors came down, I did a BBQ for them. I enjoy cooking for a lot of events down here. We try to have a big family dinner with my kids and grandkids on Sundays to try and get everyone together.”

What is your favorite vacation spot?

“I would rather go on a cruise anywhere. I definitely am a water guy.”

What is your favorite vacation spot?

“The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. It’s pretty good!”

What is your life mantra/motto?

“No matter what happens, it’ll be ok and we can work it out.”
